Hope you're keeping well, friend. -- Scratch, BG3

Hi, I'm Maddy -- A nearly-30 autistic and transgender computer scientist, once again trying this "carve out a piece of the Web for yourself" thing, since social media is... bad.

(Well, not Bluesky, that has been lovely so far -- Follow my very quiet account @maddyep.com!)

I started "Meditations on Chaos" way back in high school, mostly abandoned the project once I started undergrad, tried (and failed) again at the start of this year, and finally got to where I am now: Tired of not being as annoying on the Internet as I once was.

A quick biography: I was born and raised in the midwest, moved to the east coast for school, and then moved to the west coast for work. I've had a special interest in technology and computing for as long as I can remember, and was fortunately able to turn that into a career immediately after earning my BS and MS in computer science and math. Outside of that, I'm a media enjoyer: I am constantly listening to music, I love television and movies, and I've been making up for all my years as an "old soul" (read: responsibility-obsessed and undiagnosed high-masking autistic child with no social life) by playing far too many video games.

This blog was originally created to share interesting things I was learning about, that I didn't think were easily accessible elsewhere; while my current mission is largely the same, this site will also be the online home of a long-term project I have been hoping to work on: A completely free and relatively comprehensive course in computer science, with a focus on turning the theory that I love so much into practical tools for good software engineering (here and there shamelessly adapting lessons learned from computer scientists far more capable than myself).

Thanks for reading this far! In addition to writing for this site again, I'm hoping to also restart my Twitch channel where I like to chat and play games now and again, if you want more ways to hear my opinions. I hope you enjoy!
